Our Departments

The office is responsible for supporting the Managing director provide Board Secretariat and related services to the Board as required under the KEPHIS Act and Mwongozo. The Directorate is also responsible for advising the Board and Management on legal matters, overseeing legal matters as well as implementing good corporate governance to enhance organizational credibility.

The Directorate is responsible for reviewing and evaluating budgetary performance, financial management, transparency and accountability mechanisms and processes at the Corporation; providing reasonable assurance through the audit committee on the state of risk management, control and governance within the Corporation; and reviewing the effectiveness of the financial and non-financial performance management systems of the Corporation.

The Directorate is established pursuant to KEPHIS Act, no. 54, part II, section 5 (b), (c) and (d) responsible for the effective management of the Analytical Chemistry Laboratory and Food Safety, Plant Health and Molecular Laboratories and the Seed Testing The Directorate will provide services through the following three Departments:

• Analytical Chemistry Laboratory and Food Safety;

• Plant Health and Molecular Laboratory;

• Seed Testing Laboratory.

 

The Department is responsible for seed certification through the laboratory testing to determine seed sampling, purity, germination capacity, seed health, data management and issuance of both local and international orange seed germination certificates.

The Directorate is established pursuant to KEPHIS Act, no. 54, part II, section 5 (a, b, g, h, i, j, k & l) and international requirements by providing strategic leadership on plant health matters. It ensures implementation of import and export regulation, pest identification & diagnostics, pest risk analysis, pest surveillance, quarantine regulation,

The Directorate of Corporate Services is responsible for providing strategic leadership, expert advice and input to the Service to ensure optimal utilization and management of the Service’s resources. It will also provide accountability in the functional areas of, Finance & Accounts, Human Capital, Planning, Corporate Communications, ICT & Innovation, Security and Administration Department.

The Directorate is responsible for providing leadership on matters regulatory research; projects development and implementation; strategic planning and implementation; performance contracting.

The Supply Chain Management is anchored in the Consititution through Article 227 and amplified by section 47 of the Public Procurement and Asset Disposal Act 2015. The Dvision facilitates KEPHIS to achieve its strategic goals through efficient and effective planning and procurement/disposal of goods and services.
