KEPHIS is at the 7th CAC Africa Summit
KEPHIS participated in the 7th CAC Africa Summit held on 22nd–23rd September 2025 at the Sarit Centre, joining the global conversation on regulatory harmonization, sustainable pesticide use, emerging technologies, and responsible trade practices.
KEPHIS as the mandated institution to assure plant health and the quality of agricultural inputs, serves as the secretariat to the Kenya Standing Technical Committee on Imports and Exports (KSTCIE).
The committee develops and recommends systems for the safe introduction and use of bioproducts, biological control agents, biofertilizers, beneficial organisms, and organic fertilizers particularly for plant-based products.

This is achieved through the process:
1. Application submission
2. Risk assessment
3. Committee approval or rejection
4. Release and commercialization
Through its accredited laboratories, KEPHIS facilitates trade by testing for pesticide maximum residue levels (MRLs) to ensure compliance with market requirements.

The Summit brought together policymakers, agrochemical manufacturers, researchers, and agricultural professionals from Africa and China to foster growth of the agrochemical industry.
