KEPHIS Chairman Hon. Joseph M'eruaki Accompanies PS Dr. Paul Ronoh for a Routine Inspection, Farmers Engagement & Assessment of Food Security Situations in the Meru Region

On the 22nd of November 2024 , Dr. Paul Kipronoh Ronoh Principal Secretary, State Department for Agriculture, Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development was accompanied by KEPHIS Chairman Hon. Joseph M'eruaki, among other leaders for a routine inspection, farmers engagement & assessment of food security situations in the region.

The Chairman addressed farmers at Michimikuru Market in Tigania East Meru County, where he enlightened people on the importance of quality seeds.

Seed is the most important input in crop production. High-quality seeds enable farmers to boost crop productivity, improve livelihoods, and feed a growing population. In recent years, there has been an increase in illegal seed practices, including counterfeit seeds, which pose  a threat to National Food security.

At KEPHIS, we will continue working with licensed seed companies, National Government Administration Officers, and other stakeholders to ensure the supply of quality seeds.
