KEPHIS participated at The International Accreditation Conference in Mombasa
KEPHIS participated at The International Accreditation Conference in Mombasa, Kenya held from 11th to 13th November. Under the theme “Shaping Global Accreditation Practices for Excellence and Trust, the conference brought together regulators, policymakers, accreditation bodies, and industry leaders from across Africa and the world and provided a strategic platform for dialogue, innovation, and collaboration among key stakeholders in the accreditation and quality infrastructure ecosystem.
Accreditation of KEPHIS laboratories is a cornerstone of the organization’s credibility and reliability. Accreditation directly supports Kenya’s trade interests by reducing technical barriers and facilitating market access for agricultural products. KEPHIS accredited laboratories provide the evidence needed for compliance with international standards, enabling Kenyan exporters to meet the requirements of global markets. This strengthens Kenya’s position as a reliable supplier of safe and high-quality agricultural goods.

KEPHIS was represented at the conference by the Managing Director, Prof. Theophilus Mutui, Ag. Director Laboratory Services Dr. Florence Munguti, Ag. Director Planning and Strategy Nicholas Tunya and the Director Corporate Services Nancy Ndumia underscoring the organization’s commitment to advancing accreditation standards in plant health, food safety and seed testing.
KEPHIS had also set up an exhibition as a platform for stakeholders to learn about KEPHIS’s services and their contribution to Kenya’s agricultural sector and international trade. KEPHIS’s participation in the International Accreditation Conference 2025 highlights its leadership in advancing accreditation practices for excellence and trust. KEPHIS is reinforcing its role as a key enabler of trade, food safety, and plant biosecurity in Kenya and beyond.
