Strategic Review of Pest Risk Reports to Inform Quarantine Pest Management and Policy Decisions
In line with the KEPHIS Strategic Plan 2023–2027 objective to enhance national capacity in pest surveillance, diagnostics, and risk analysis, the Pest Risk Analysis (PRA) Department convened a technical validation workshop from 2nd-5th June 2025. The session brought together inspectors from KEPHIS headquarters and regional offices to review pest risk insight reports on priority quarantine pests threatening Kenya’s agriculture.
This collaborative effort reflects KEPHIS’s strategic commitment to science-based phytosanitary regulation, early warning systems, and effective pest management to safeguard plant health, protect biodiversity, and support safe agricultural trade. The exercise further strengthens stakeholder-driven decision-making and national preparedness against emerging and re-emerging plant health threats.
